I think most people are living their lives in reverse.
Instead of moving steadily towards the future, they are backing away from the present. Short term views on short term projects yielding short term results.
Are you living your life backwards?
Here are some signs you might be:
Always reacting instead of planning
Going for the short-term gain instead of the long-term benefit when making decisions
Often lamenting to yourself, “I wish I had started this earlier”
Goals based on current circumstances instead of future aspirations
Thinking in weeks and months instead of years
Look, I am not going to claim that I am immune to all of the above. We all often fall into the trap of living backwards instead of living forwards. But awareness of the traps gives us the power to make changes and avoid the negative outcomes they can bring.
There are real consequences to living backwards:
Endlessly missing opportunities
Unreasonable and chronic stress and anxiety
A lack of fulfillment and purpose in life
Financial struggles
